MEET RECAP: Issy, Skyline @ North Creek, Inglemoor

In what was the second annual “mega meet” at St Edwards — where almost every school in our conference raced on the same course over a two day stretch — Issaquah reigned supreme in the first 5K race of the season. Up against Inglemoor, North Creek, Skyline — Issaquah won 4 of the 4 contested races and notched 2 individual wins.

First race of the day was our varsity boys, led by junior Alex Yahn (16:19.31, PR) who also won the race for Issaquah, finishing just ahead of senior teammate Brennen Rickey (2nd, 16:26.90) and ahead Skyline’s Reader Aageson. Rounding out our scoring 5 were juniors Henry Tait (5th, 16:37.35), Robert Fischer (7th, 17:22.54), and sophomore Nathaniel Laursen (8th, 17:28.45, PR). This totaled to 23-40 over Skyline, sealing a dominate league performance in our second full-distance race of the season.

Next up were varsity girls, led by freshman Sally Davis (19:24.59, PR) who finished 3rd behind Skyline’s 1-2 runners. Junior Sena Pittman (4th, 19:24.64, PR) and senior Jane Harig (5th, 19:25.10) came across next, while junior Liv Jensen (10th, 21:04.51) and freshman Lauren Tehero (11th, 21:05.74, PR) rounded out our scoring top 5. These incredible efforts from our girl’s team was enough to secure the overall team victory over Skyline 33-50, and securing the league meet victory over Inglemoor and North Creek as well.

Onto our JV boys, who secured 9 of the top 10 spots to secure a score of 20 over Skyline’s 43 point effort. Junior Braydon Staples finished second overall (18:28.54, PR) followed by senior Ilyaas Motiwalla (18:33.51), junior Toren Garcia (18:33.67), junior Jacob Chalissery (18:45.54, PR), and junior Kai Adlakha (18:56.13, PR) to round out the scoring 5. This was an awesome effort by these athletes to set us up well for the future!

The evening of races concluded with JV girls, who secured the top 11 spots to secure a perfect score of 15 over Skyline’s 62 point effort, led by senior Clara Tubbs (1st, 21:40.59), senior Mackenzie Bice (2nd, 22:43.84), senior Faith Dougherty (3rd, 22:57.32), sophomore Amelia Ryan (4th, 23:16.06), and senior Rachel Dennie (5th, 23:31.27). An amazing effort by these ladies to close out the racing evening!
