One of the more gritty competitors that always laid it on the line, Bard was a 4-time state meet qualifier and set the school record in the 3200m. He was a 2-time individual state qualifier in cross country, finishing 32nd as a junior. As a senior, Bard won the KingCo title, finished 2nd in district, then finished 5th in state becoming just the second (and most recent as of 2010) boy to average under 5:00/mile at the state meet.

Bard’s performance put him at 6th overall in the state regardless of classification which is second highest in school history. His time of 14:59 for 3.0 miles (15:29 for 3.1 converted) is the school record for the Sun Willows state meet course where the meet has been held since 1988. In track as a senior, Bard finished 4th in state in both the 1600m and 3200m, with lifetime PRs in both and a mark in the 3200m that would stand as the school record for 14 years.
