MEET RECAP: Kent-Meridian Invite

In our first invitational of the year, Issaquah TF competed extremely well, finishing the day with third- and fourth-place team finishes, 1 individual event win, and 10 runner-up finishes at the Kent Meridian Invite.

Our girl’s 3200m runners, Kate Yahn (2nd, 11:05.46) and Jane Harig (3rd, 11:08.10), kicked the meet off to a strong start. Our girl’s 4x200m of Sena Pittman, Daytona Crow, Madelyn Kramer, and Sophia Mydlil ran a new season best of 1:51.30 for second place. Into the 4x800m relay, Hayden Stowe, Ilyaas Motiwalla, Braydon Staples, and Robert Fischer ran a season best of 8:57.76 for second place. Madelyn Kraemer then went finished second in the girl’s freshman 100m in a PR of 13.75. Connor Rickey finished second in the boy’s 1600m, running a school sophomore record of 4:22.89, while Nathaniel Larsen ran a 4:57.97 for second overall in the boy’s freshman 1600m. The lone individual victory came from Allison Hu, who ran a PR of 5:31.70 to win the freshman girl’s 1600m. Sena Pittman then went to run 1:00.80 for third in the girl’s 400m, and Nicolas Talluto finished second in 53.46 for second in the boy’s 400m. To the 300m hurdles, where we saw Toren Garcia run 41.34 and Sophia Mydlil run 51.94, both of them finishing third place overall. In the penultimate event, Brennen Rickey ran 9:32.55 for a huge PR and second place in the 3200m, and Alex Yahn ran 9:42.83 for third overall. Courtney Smith finished second in the high jump (4’8″) and third in the javelin (97’5″), and Domfo Abekah leapt for a third place finish in the long jump (15’9″). Our girl’s 4x400m of Sena Pittman, Giada Oliva, Ilorra Farren, and Kate Yahn finished second in a season best time of 4:18.43.

After tallying up the scores, the boy’s team finished fourth of the 33 teams, while the girl’s team finished third of the 33 teams. Both our boy’s and girl’s freshman teams finished first overall in the events scored.

Eagles will be racing in our second dual meet, this time at Mt Si High School on Wednesday 3/29. Meet start time is 4pm. Fly Eagles, Fly!
