Off Season Work Outs (non track specific)

The weight  room will be available on several  Saturdays from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM beginning Nov.13th and ending March12th (Detailed schedule is below)These open sessions are available to all IHS students and are optional for track and field athletes. The sessions will  be hosted by throws coaches Jerry Loveless and Niall Wachtman.
Additional information/tips:

  • Please enter the school through the front doors to the Commons, by the Main Office. We will meet at these doors and all go to the weight room together at 11:10. Please be on time. 
  • Have a healthy snack before and after lifting: Fruit, peanut butter, or other easily digestible fare.
  • Bring a water bottle: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
  • These are optional sessions. Attend any Saturdays that you want, and leave early if you want ( Please do let Jerry or Niall know if you are leaving, though).
  • Covid protocols for the weight room are subject to change based on changes to National, State and Local safety guidelines. These protocols will be updated here, so keep watching. For now, assume that masks will be required for all participants and coaches. 
  • The below schedule is also subject to change. These sessions take place in the winter, and driving conditions or other factors may result in some sessions being cancelled. Watch for updates. 
  • These sessions are not intended to replace any existing weight training you may be doing for another sport or a personal trainer. If you have a training plan that is working for you, you can do that during these sessions. If you do not have a weight training plan, the coaches can help you build one. 
  • We will NOT be doing any track and field technique instruction during these sessions. The sessions are for conditioning only.
