The final invitational of the season took place today at Lakewood High School in Arlington. It was another great day for Issaquah runners following their very strong performances at last week’s Twilight Invitational. Thirty of the forty-five athletes competing had lifetime or season personal records. A few California schools added to the traditional Oregon and Washington schools which made for a great day of racing.
The boys frosh/soph race saw top 20 finishes from Jasper Fuhs (5th), Sam Rosenkranz (13th), Nic Chin (15th) and Ian Streams (19th). As a team, they placed 3rd.
The JV boys team placed 5th out of 33 teams. The three boys earning top 20 finishes were Jenner Sapienza (2nd), Nick Rodgers (7th) and Alex Darragh (13th).
The Varsity boys race ended the day with their 7th place team finish out of 36. Luke George led the boys team with his 4th place finish in a lifetime PR followed by Sam Griffith in 17th who also earned a lifetime pr.
Jenna Heesacker won the jv girls race in a lifetime PR. Ella McKillop placed a strong third to lead the JV girls team to their 3rd place finish.
The 38 school varsity girls race saw Issaquah win their 3rd invitational of the year, outscoring second place Camas by 67 points. Led by Sami Corman (4th), Julia David-Smith (5th), Kenna Clawson (10th), Andie Kolasinski (26th) and Lauren Haas (29th) the girls average team time was an outstanding 18:24 with the top 5 girls under 19:00 for the first time in school history.
Congratulations to all the athletes competing today and for the great support of parents and friends who made the trip to Arlington.
